Current Photobox canvass (postage notice on 'special offer')

Current offer of a canvass for £6, roughly 30x20cm, down from their usual price of £25.

I placed the order fully aware there would be a delivery charge.
Royal Mail, for an object of that weight and size, would charge £2.70
Or £3.65 signed for.

Photobox want £7.50
Its hardly going to break the bank, but should you decide to order their £5.99 canvass, well, there you have it. The delivery price will set you back another £7.50.

Not looking for sympathy, but would have appreciated a downgrade option, which is fairly standard these days (amazon, ebay, a great many other online shops etc).

So, nearly £14 all in, for a £25 canvass which only costs £5.99.

What intrigues me also, are the HUGE canvasses which sell in some shops for £4.99. They are nearly a metre wide. Does anyone feel a normal price of £24.99 is reasonable, for a 30cm wide landscape canvass, or is photobox not the place to shop for them (I have bought many from them, albeit many years ago, and no canvasses since).

IMHO Photobox canvasses are crap. I use them a lot for prints, but the canvasses just don't cut it. So many better on-line places to buy from.

ETA... Yep... Postage is silly. Try living in the Highlands and trying to explain that we are not 'offshore'!

Ive not read this forum in years, but remember your posts and incredible landscape photos well. Do couriers charge more to deliver to your door - and presumably royal mail do not? Or do you have a communal PO box area for all the locals?

Just curious, Ive always wanted to ask someone living out in the sticks

Royal Mail deliver next day... Much faster than when we lived down south in fact! It's the couriers that are rubbish, considering that we are off the map. They just need educating. ...and yes, some charge more.

As for Photobox... As I say, I use them a lot (every month for ten years at a guess - I sell prints up here), but unless they have completely changed the materials for canvasses, they are crap! A well known PH'er does a much better job.

You get what you pay for. A £6 canvas will look like a £6 canvas.

Any recommendations for canvasses then please? I was actually going to try Photobox as they have done a good fast job with my prints, but I'd like to hear alternatives based on the above comments.

If you believe Facebook likes are a measure of satisfaction then you must be a marketing departments dream. People generally like companies (IME) because there's some sort of offer involved.

£7.50 is for courier service not royal mail - if you want a higher quality one Photobox do premium canvas as well

WE got a 1500x1000mm Canvas from Tesco, for about £40 i think it was on offer and free delivery to the local store, no problems at all with the quality. So maybe try them

If you do, PLEASE size the picture yourself beforehand to the size of canvas you are getting. Whoever tesco outsource to will just print it however it crops with no regard for heads being cut off etc. Atleast if you size it yourself, you get some idea of what you will get back.
