Easy to use video/photo editing software?

Hi, I'm looking for advice on which is the easiest software to use for a PC illiterat type? At this stage I simply want to crop/resize and edit video. Needs to be simple to use. I've got Photoshop Elements on one laptop but find it cumbersome if that shows the level of my ineptitude...

Get someone else to do it for you?

I can't think of anything easier - don't use a PC, learn how the camera will do these things for you (or get closer to your subject in the first place).

And if that's all you want to do, PSE is overkill!

Windoze Movie Maker. You have it free as part of the O/S and it's piss easy to use.
