Any wedding photographers .........

So what is the most unusual/bizarre wedding photography experience ? Here's my top 3 I've experienced.
1. Today the bride and groom fail to turn up to their wedding
2. Thirty five guests with 35 dalmations
3. Bets from guests whether the marriage will last - 6 months they had separated.

The joys of shooting weddings, you just have no idea what's going to happen on the day .......and that's why I love it.

I haven't had any like that but a recent enquiry was a bit odd.

About 3 weeks ago a chap e-mailed me asking for prices to cover a wedding in Essex last Saturday. No other info given but that's not unusual - but such a short lead time is. So I replied with 'this is an idea but please send more info for a quote'. He replies saying he would like to book and will get his 'associate' to forward the deposit if I send him my bank details, and that the location will be revealed soon.

This is starting to sound very odd - I've never heard a financee called an associate before and why is the location a secret? Anyway, strange things happen and bank details are no big deal so I mail him my booking notes and also nail down a few facts as it's starting to look distinctly flakey.

Two weeks pass - the wedding is only a few days away, no deposit has arrived and no other information so I pull the eject handle. I e-mail him essentially saying 'ah'm oot'. No reply, not then nor since.

Nothing quite that bizarre for me. I had a wedding at Cliveden House where as the two cars arrived with the bridesmaids, the 2nd one drove into the back of the 1st. No one hurt fortunately!

I had one where the vicar who was supposed to be doing the service wasn't available at very late notice as he'd been called to London to bless the Kenyan Olympic team.

His standin got the groom's (French) first name wrong a couple of times, that was concerning, luckily when he got to the service proper he got it right.

I should probably place a "gagging order" on Simpo Two.

But I can confirm that one of his clients actually took his camera off him during the first reception. Most of the rest of his work is all his own work I believe.

Actually I import all my photos from China.

Nothing too dramatic in my wedding shoots. Did recently have a wedding where the multi tiered cake wasn't very stable and all it took was a lady with a particularly oversized derrière to knock it over and cause it to collapse.

Bridesmaids = horses. Not in a Camilla way but actual equine animals. Latterly burgers, for all I know.
