Website Help Please

My family and I are relocating to Cornwall in the summer as we fancy a change and my wife has found an excellent job just outside Truro. It will mean I will be giving up my current job and looking for new income streams. At present I am still learning all aspects of photography but have managed to get sales through a couple of agencies and a few portraits. At the moment my only web presence is Flickr and before I go south I would like to set up my own site to display my portfolio and soon hopefully to sell some images through. The problem is I am a technophobe and have absolutely no idea when it comes to websites

Has anyone on here set up a site recently which was easy to use? Preferably I want something I can customise as I become more proficient, but is simple to begin with.

I use www.zenfolio.com for www.markmullenphotography.co.uk

It costs me around £100 a year, for that I get unlimited storage, print orders fulfilled by a few different labs, a choice of products I can offer from cheapies like mouse mats up to big aluminium backed prints, I can set prices, and offer discounts and special offers. I can offer digital downloads (like I do for my free calendar, http://www.markmullenphotography.co.uk/calendar) for free, or chargable. It has an integrated blog, ideal for SEO and for keeping in touch.

It is very customisable in look and feel.

I've had it running for a couple of years, it more than pays for itself, both in print sales, and in getting other jobs.

You've got quite a few options, depending on how much functionality you want.

Wordpress with a photography theme, loads of plugins and easy to use back end.

Most of those allow you to add a cart for people to purchase direct from your site.

I'm a big fan of 500px. I've followed them since just after they started up and I've beta tested a few bits and pieces for them. I currently use their fairly new portfolio service as my website is going to not only be for my portfolio as of this summer. I'm a paid member so I'm not sure what you have to do but here's mine and it really didn't take me long to set up at all:
