All there. In a nutshell, the plain vanilla Sandisk is consistently the slowest. Period.

Hi
Over on Rob Galbraiths site there is a database of CF write speeds in different cameras
www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007 Not sure if this is what you are looking for but does list the Sandisk standard cards at the bottom of the tables
Cheers

I wonder what one of the top rated cards would be like
Lexar recently discontinued the 40x in favour of the 80xAnd not much more money.
I can vouch for the 80* supplied by Simpo Two. Buffer seems to empty very fast even when using .nef format files at a little of 9mb each image.

80x
looking at my sandsik cards I thought this 12x card was fast, but 80x seems like light speed.
How long does it take to write a RAW image of approx 7mb?
My D100 probaly only takes a few seconds (I'd say under 5) to write the .nef file of about 9mb. Really once you have lowered the camera from your eye it's almost finished writing.
Bear in mind one of the key limitations of the D100 is the fact that the buffer isn't that big and doesn't empty that fast, so anything newer will probably write even faster.
