That's me. The Misses has just ordered me a Nikon D70 with a 1 gig CF card for my birthday and Christmas prezzie. Was originally after a D300 until I saw the D70 I had thought of getting one in the New Year but she asked me whare to get them from, showed he and she ordered it there and then. Yo cap off a good weekend, she sent me out to play golf today

No, nothing like that. She has her own house and I have mine. She may well be after my body though

That's a D70 body; tell her to keep her hands off it

Congrats on your choice; great minds etc. Did you get the 18-70?

Yes, she ordered the one with 18-80 I think. It's kit 2.

OK, there are two lenses:
The AF-S 18-70mm is a good quality lens with good wide-angle capability, 'silent wave motor' (fast and quiet autofocusing) and internal focusing - ie the front doesn't spin round as focus changes. Buying this lens on its own would be £2-300.
By contrast the AF 28-80mm lens has none of these features. Wide angle isn't catered for (28mm x 1.5 = 42mm) and the extra 10mm at the top is not significant.
My advice is to try to get your hands on the 18-70 if at all possible. With DSLRs, adding a telephoto is fairly affordable; getting a good wide angle is more expensive.
Hope this helps you get the right one!
