Can anyone tell me, if I post a shot on Pistonheads, who owns the copyright, is it still me or does in become the property of Pistonheads. I have looked through the site details but can't find anything about third parties etc'.

Ted, if you read this, its not a problem with Pistonheads, its that a company are using some images that I posted here sometime ago, on their website, so before I contact them I need to know the facts.

Have you read their T&C? I remember it explicitely written down in other forum's T&C, so that might be worth a look. Can't say anything on general copyright laws though.

I would have thought it strange if a posting of an image here, without financial compensation, would pass the copyright to PH.

Sorry Bodo, not quite with you on this, do you mean their refering to the company that has used my pics? If so, they state that all images and content of their site is owned by them, which of course is untrue, unless a deal has been struck with PH, hence my original question.

I really doubt PH takes automatic rights on content of forums but need to qualify this.

I remember a BBC competition a few months ago where, if you sent in an entry, they helped themselves to copyright and reserved the use to do what they liked with it!!!

Have seen this problem with a Track Day Organiser, who takes copyright of any pic taken on one of their days.

...As do certain tracks.

Sorry to cause confusion, I misread your post so that you posted at xxx (not PH) and xxx is using your images

PH makes no claim to copyright on other people's images posted here.

Thanks for that Ted and to everyone, for the quick replies. I shall be contacting the offending company in due course then. Right, who was OJ's lawyer?
