just bought one of these to upgrade from my ageing 2040z

so far, VERY impressed.
lovely crisp 5mp images, and the 12x optically stabilized zoom is just amazing..

definately recommend having a look if you're after this type of camera!!

nowhere to host samples at the minute.. but have a look on dpreview.com, there's planty from users there!

Refreshingly different. I like the idea of Panasonic and Leica: seems like the best of old and new

I must say, they do look rather tasty Anything involving Leica has got to be good.

Tasty cameras.

I've always thought the Leica type cameras look the absolute b*ll*cks...

I might get one in a few years... got that DSLR to get first!

My brother's just got one also, I've mentioned them on here a few times.

He paid about £368 from techstore.co.uk because they had them in stock.

I was quite impressed with it, so much so, that I might have one too

Though if you had a DSLR, you wouldn't need the Panasonic/Leica camera!

spent the last 2 hours drooling over images and positive reviews for this camera.
Waiting for Jessops to phone back with a price match of £358 from dealtime!, which is nearly £100 cheaper than Jessops quoted price and means a handy return policy to a shop.
Look what youve done!
I will be sorely tempted if they say yes.
Ah!, they just called and won't pricematch dealtime however i have it on good authority they have price matched internetcamerasdirect.co.uk
from here. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1033&message=10558789 for £372 which once again i think would be worth the extra for a shop returns policy with a person you can see and speak to.

My goodness!, the zoom on this thing is amazing!
Check out the test pics of the satelite dishes from wide angle at probably 250metres away to 12x and 48x with digital zoom where it is allmost possible to read a car no. plate.

Noted, thanks....all the more reason to buy from a reputable shop imo.

I agree, but couldn't get the local Jessops to price-match (although they're not the most helpful anyway!)

went with Dabs as they are very big, and well respected for an online shop...

good luck with persuading Jessops to match!!

Is this camera a fixed lens camera or not (Jessops description says it is) but on this page there a shots of it with what look like different lenses? - www.dpreview.com/news/0407/04072104panasonicfz20.asp

Just noticed the phrase "conversion lenses", I guess that is what it is.

It is an SLR then?

PS. I know fek all about still cameras, well a bit but......

The main lens is fixed, but you can add extra lenses/filters
