Wordpress image gallery / portfolio type plugin

Hi everybody, I have a very basic wordpress site for my personal website. I'm trying to find a nice image gallery plugin that looks stylish but is as idiot proof as possible!

I'm currently using Camera slideshow, which gives me the general look I want with minimal tinkering, but has two major downsides.

1/ You have to upload and then caption each image individually. I would like to do the captions in my editing software, then upload everything in one go with them still intact - it is a bit cumbersome and time consuming with this plugin.

2/ It seems to take a relatively long time for the gallery to load completely, which would put me off looking at it! The actual image file sizes are pretty small!

Any suggestions for something better? Free if possible, but would pay for something if necessary. I don't need to make money from my site though, as I work for a photo agency, so it's just a "look at me!" type site.

Have you tried NextGen? Very easy to use and it looks allright:
