Filters 1a/uv hmc

Basically, are these filters the same but a generation apart i.e. 1a for film then re invented/branded uv for digital?

1A used to be called Skylight many moons ago. I have used UV for all my lenses since the mid 80's so they predate digital by a long way. The HMC Pro-1 filters are very nice.

Skylight is slightly pink, UV is clear.

UV is useless unless you are in insanely strong UV conditions as digital sensors filter it out.

Any 'protection' filter is going to impact image quality (more with linger lenses) and put your lens at more risk of damage than without.
