I know Jessops do it in store - they were trying to tempt me with a D70 yesterday.

Also of note, 7dayshop.com have a 300D on special offer - £589 IIRC.

www.warehouseexpress.com/ do it. 10% deposit then the rest in 9 months with no interest, or then pay monthly with interest.

I thought you had real trouble getting hold of one? How come youre now flogging them? I fear without the interest free credit option id have no chance of affording one!

There was that story about a whole shipment getting half-inched in Spain?

Plenty of credit cards like egg.com offering silly money (I can't believe that they've trusted me with seven and a half Archers!)

Well as you ask - here's the story. The rep rang me today and asked how things were going. I said I could have sold a few, but people didn't want to wait 2 months. So he reserved a couple for me and said that if I didn't get orders for them when they became available, he'd reallocate them.
So everybody wins: rep gets an order, punter gets a D70 and I might make enough for a can of Tesco Value beans. Plus, you get TWO FREE MONTHS in which to scrape up the readies! I take credit cards as well though at 3% extra.
NB To put Beano's mind at rest (and Bacardi, when he wakes up ), these are brand new, boxed, warranted UK stock, exactly as you'd get in Jessops, Dixons etc. I've specified the kit with the 18-70 lens but you can have 28-80 or body only if you like.

Just out of interest, how much are you asking for one, body only, or with the 18 - 70mm lens?

Good Q. I don't know my buy price yet, but the D70 is in very high demand so I don't see it falling much. I can certainly beat the high street and will do my best to match internet prices too. As we're talking two months away, that's as specific as I can be just at the moment!
(wow, D70 futures!)

going a bit further off topic, it looks like unless the reviews proclaim the new Minolta Dynax 7D a complete dog I'll be buying one shortly.

Apart from Jessops who are taking pre-orders, who else is worth looking at for decent prices?

"Er in Doors" has just given me my birthday and Christmas present. A brand new shiny D70 with an 18-70 lens and a 1 gig CF card. I am really happy today and on She got it from internet cameras direct. The bloody instruction book is in French tho. Just downloaded the PDF version from the Nikon site.
