I bought my 2005 RX-8 in September of 2011, so I'm approaching 2 years of ownership, and I've loved every moment of it! I couldn't afford it back in 2004 when it first came out, so as silly as this may sound to some, this really was my first dream car (I'm saving up for an Atom 300) and I absolutely adore it.

Naturally, being an aspiring filmmaker and a professional photographer, I had to shine the spotlight on it somehow, so I decided to make a little video review of it. I really thought it would be a simpler project than it turned out to be, but here are the results (be sure to watch it in HD!!):

Superbly done there! Great camera work throughout, and you came over very enthusiastic with you review. One minor criticism would be that some of the music was kinda too loud over your voice, a little adjustment and I'd say that would be spot on.

Gorgeous videography. Really, some of the best I've seen on Youtube and IMHO broadcast quality stuff. I'd love to see you do some more car stuff but appreciate putting these things together is no 5 minute job. Not only do I now want an RX8 (to be fair I already did), I want to make some car films. Thanks for sharing.

I clicked that link expecting something rubbish (not disrespect to you OP, it's just invariably people make videos and they are crap!) but that was very well done! thumbup

Wow thanks everyone!!!

RobbieKB I know what you mean haha! I won't add any more than that though wink

Synchromesh thanks for the huge compliments!! Definitely not a 5-minute job... I very nearly gave up on making the video at all after I'd shot the footage. I was so frustrated with how some things had gone during production. Also, it's hard to have to look at yourself so much - Jeremy Clarkson has the benefit of shooting and then being able to let someone else do the editing, color correction, audio, etc etc.

Oh and JimNotJon, audio was a real problem in this... I made the mistake of recording too much audio at high speed (on my way out to the Salt Flats) with an already bad option for audio recording. So I'm saying I think the issue was more the ambient noise than it was the audio balance. Maybe I'm missing something though. Where do you feel like the balance is off?

Really excellent vid. Must've taken a helluva lot of effort for 3/4 guys to put out something that professional looking. IMO, it would not look out of place on a tv screen.

Really liked how your enthusiasm for the car came through as well. All my cars have required similar acceptance of their faults and limitations before I could really enjoy them.

mep, thanks!! biggrin

And bitwrx, it was pretty tough on set with as few people as we had. Post production is always a lot easier in that I only have to count on myself for everything. It's amazing what you can do with a little geeky know-how and some software. It does help that I've been a photographer for a while, but shooting video on set is always tough.

ps: bitwrx, I've never been this enthusiastic about a car before. My car history is all sensible cars except for a Dodge Neon SRT-4, which, aside from straight line acceleration, was really quite terrible and a frustrating place to sit in.
