Would you buy a lens in the Canary Islands?

I've been looking to buy a wide angle lens for a while, and am currently on holiday in Tenerife. I have seen a few shops that have the Sigma 10-20mm which I should be able to haggle on the price, but with that much knock off gear floating around over here I'm not sure if I should.

Has anyone else bought equipment over here? Is there anything I should look out for to indicate it's legit?

I was in a shop earlier haggking and the guy shouted 200 euros (£170) as I walked out. Whether he would stick to it is another matter, but that is a hell of a lot cheaper than I have found in the UK.
