Sadly far from uncommon, the number of competitions with wideranging rights grabs like this is huge.

The only ones which are usually better are competitions run by photographers, LPoTY, Best Shots, Sony World Photography Awards etc.

IIRC The BBC have similar T&Cs - as do Facebook & Twitter (If you upload to their space)

I think PH had something similar briefly a few years back but it got changed when people in this sub forum noticed, I don't think the powers that be realised quite what was in the forum T&Cs.

I remember that. We all shouted very loud and they changed the T&Cs. A small victory in a war that will inevitably be lost.

I don't really see what's wrong with this? You're entering a competition. Presumably you might win a prize, which is your incentive to enter, and their incentive for running the competition is being able to use the photos? It's not as though you're giving them rights to use all your photos, or as if they were just a hosting site trying to claim rights to people's photos, is it?
