Not a bad deal on a 550D + 3 lenses

It's the old pre-IS version of the 18-55 which was considered pretty average.
The EF 75-300 was considered to be pretty woeful.
The 50/1.8 is a great first prime but can be bought very cheaply either new or used.
The 550d is now 3 incremental version upgrades old, although admittedly those upgrades were fairly insignificant unless shooting video is your thing.
It's cheap, but it's cheap because it's a clear out of old kit including 2 very average lenses that no-one would ever buy individually because their replacements (18-55 IS, EF-S 55-250) are vastly superior.

I must be honest that while you're obviously correct, it's still mega value especially for a starter kit for people to be introduced into digital photography where they can play with hd video etc and work out what you want to buy going forward.The EF 75-300 was considered to be pretty woeful.

If it was throwaway money, I'd agree, but its not, it's still just short of £500. That's still real money at least in my world. Someone who buys this to dip their toe in the water is going to go one of 2 ways - they'll either decide after a couple of months that a DSLR isn't for them and be frustrated that what they've bought has very little resale value - or get properly into it and be frustrated with themselves because they've bought old kit and quickly form the perception that the well publicised shortcomings of 2 of these lenses is holding them back, regardless of whether that's actually true.
For less than £200 more you can get a 600d, latest version of the 18-55IS, a EF-S 55-250 and a 50/1.8. That would keep a beginner very happy for a long time and would be arguably as good a kit as the vast majority of amateurs would ever need - and would have a higher proportion of retained value to boot.

But I'd do my due diligence on that seller before getting my credit card out.
Price is almost a hundred quid cheaper than the best price of the known and trusted sellers on camerapricebuster. Too good to be true for a pukka UK market canon dealer.

It's either a scam or an Asian grey importer. If the later that's not necessarily a bad thing, but do your homework on warranty implications and potential VAT and import duty liability.
But I'd do my due diligence on that seller before getting my credit card out.
