Photo Overlay Software

I've taken a series of photographs over the past 8 weeks. I now want to put them together into a short video, however, as the camera position moves very slightly between each shot the film looks jerky.

Is there a bit of (free) software that will allow me to position each shot over the last one and align a common element?
