Really, really cheap DSLR motorsport setup

I've experimented with many different types of gear shooting motorsport in the past few years (Canon 5D, Nikon DX gear, Micro 4/3, Sony SLT, Fuji X) and discovered that really just about anything will work perfectly well with a good bit of practice to the point where I sometimes have to double check going back through my images whether something was taken with a £3k DSLR setup or a supposedly useless for tracking AF Micro 4/3 body/lens. I've eased up on the motorsport shooting lately and now have a lovely Fuji X setup for travel photography that I don't really want to be using at the occassional motorsport event.

With that in mind I now want to put together the absolute cheapest DSLR motorsport kit money can buy. A few requirements:

- Autofocus
- SD card compatible
- Lens roughly in the 100-300mm range

Shopping around second-hand, MPB Photographic have the rather appealing and wonderfully cheap combo of a Nikon D50 and Sigma 70-300mm for £133. Can anyone beat that significantly? Budget isn't really an issue, but if I'm going to do this, I want to do it properly!

As much as it's a practical thing for myself, I also want to see just how far I can go with it. I'm still offered the occasional job shooting motorsport that I automatically turn down, but the idea of successfully shooting an event with £100ish of gear feels like a fun challenge. I read so much 'advice' given to newbies online about how you must spend x amount (x being a very large number) to take a decent motorsport photo, so this is my chance to put my money where my mouth is and prove that wrong in my own mind.

Will watch this thread. Recently bought a 600D ready for a trip to China.

But will be off to Wales GB when I get back and a used Sigma 70-300 at £70 used would make a nice addition for the rallying if people think its value for money.
