talkphotography has a lot of armchair critics and pseudo 'experts' reiterating the urban myths. Somewhat cliquey too. I tried for a while but left. In contrast I think this forum is full of good gen and a lot of the contributors are top in their field. They have every right to be pretentious but aren't!
PhotoSIG is good for critique, but be warned - you will get the unvarnished truth. A thick skin is a pre-requisite.
I found that TP was not just cliquey, but in the feedback section, very prone to "yeh, nice shot mate" x10, and while it's nice (OK, it's really nice) to hear good things about your pictures, it's constructive criticism that moves you forward.
Still, it's an interesting forum to read.

This is what bugs me about Talkphotography and a few other forums, the Constant "Nice Shot" "Great Colours" seems to churn out loads of photographers who think a photo is only good if it is taken at Sunrise/set with the saturation set to 11. Fair enough if all you do it for is to receive praise and boost your ego but if you are actually looking for some good feedback it is a bit frustrating.
