Getting grainy results....

What are they like @ 100 ISO NDA ?
If they are better, than the camera isnt very good at hIgher ISO.
They're fine at 100,really nice....If they are better, than the camera isnt very good at hIgher ISO.
I have processed to DNG - would I get a better result processing to jpeg (I know my way around, but am not an expert)?
I've tried to sharpen and reduce noise etc, in DNG but haven't had great results.
Is there a danger of fixing the IOSO at 100, rather than 'auto'.
Many thanks for the responses. Appreciated.

Mmm,it does sound like its not great at higher iso.
If you have a decent processing software, have you tried noise removal first ?
I haven't..... The Fuji has RAF files and their native program is called 'Slinkypix' or something similar.... I need to have a play with that as its all very new to me. I've used PSE8 for a long while, so the Fuji stuff is a bit of a mystery! If you have a decent processing software, have you tried noise removal first ?

That's one of the downsides of a 2/3" sensor.
Quite a significant size difference between 1.33x and 3.93x crop-factor sensors...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sensor_sizes_ove...

The danger would be that your shutter wouldn't be quick enough in low light situations, so your shots could be blurry like this one (unless you use a tripod or have a very steady hand!);
But if the jpgs are coming out fine at ISO400, it must a processing software issue, not a feature of the sensor or the RAW files....I think...

For some reason, RAW images from my new Fuji X20 are very grainy. Exif data shows typical IOSO of 400 (the camera is set to automatic).... Jpegs are crystal clear.
Am I doing something wrong?
Try other software. Am I doing something wrong?

The developers are still getting to grips with these Fuji sensors - and as ever the manufacturer keeps changing thinks as new models are introduced it seems.
We all need standards - as many as possible.
