I was wondering if you wonderfully clever and fantastic people could help me. I'd be eternally grateful if you could.

Basically I'm trying to get a picture of a VW Beetle with a specific number plate on so that I can print it off in a nice big poster size and frame it and give it to someone as a present. I've found the picture I want to use (I think).

What I now need to do is to change the colour of the car to black, switch the badge on the back to the right model, change the number plate, and make it look good enough to print off in a large size. If any of you would be able to do this for me, that would obviously be absolutely fantastic but if not, I'd really appreciate advice on how to do it, as I'm pretty useless with photoshop.

The poster I want to adapt, and also a picture of the correct badge are at www.photobox.co.uk/album/997730

So basically could you tell me:
1. The best way to change the colour of the car to black.
2. The best way to change the badge on the car over.
3. The best way to change the number plate (to NMR 930M)
4. The best way to make it good enough quality to print out.

If someone fancies doing this all for me, you have no idea how grateful I would be.

Thank you very much.

Sam

To start off, the major thing is that there is no way you are going to get a decent print out from lifting that pic from the web, you would need a much bigger picture or buy a print and scan it in unfortunately.

No way at all? Not even by putting some little effect on it or something so it doesn't look quite the same but looks better quality?

I was hoping someone would know of some fancy way of making it look fantastic, but never mind!

Well, if you know how to do that instead, I'm sure it could come in handy

In fact that would probably be easier and more successful than your original proposal. Sorry !

most images you find online will be pretty useless for printing unless they are press images, or if someone has uploaded their full res images., which doesnt often happen. also how big a sized poster were you looking at having printed? as you will need a fairly decent res to get a big poster print that isnt pixelated.

Trying to find some on the internet at the moment and then get the people who've posted them to send me good quality ones. Not easy to find though.

Ideally I was hoping to print it around A3 size. I've got a different picture that's 1800x1200 pixels. Would that be good enough for A3? It doesn't look quite as good, but if the other one can't work, I might have to try!

the online printers i use recommend a min of at least 1200 pixels, which is based on the longest side of the image. but their preffered size is 2000+ pixels, so you'd need around a 4mp or higher image to get a really nice quality print. but again the higher the res the better.

I've managed to get hold of a couple of new pictures that I think would be good enough quality. The only problem is that the car is a little too obviously different from the one it's supposed to be.

If someone could look at them (they're on the same link as the first post mentioned) and just tell me how would be the best way to go about changing the colour, and changing the number plate, that would be fantastic. Just general information about how to do it or something.

Thanks

Sam

Unless they can send you a hi-res jpg of the car you are NOT going to get a high enough quality image off the net to be able to print A3. Sorry, but thats the way it is.

If you could find a decent enough sized picture, I wouldn't mind doing the changes for you, it would take me far less time to do it than to explain to you how to do it

Aren't the ones that I just put on to the link above (www.photobox.co.uk/album/album_fullsize.html?c_photo=14590434) good enough? I got someone to send me that.

I'm still trying to sort out higher resolution versions of some other ones, so don't spend any time messing about with that one yet because hopefully I'll get a better one. Thank you very much for the offer though, and I may well take you up on it once I finally decide on which picture is the best one I can manage to get hold of.
