Anyone walk dogs with their partners and take their camera?

If so do you get a lot of grief for it?I had wanted to get into photography for a long time and went out with my dog,and misses and took pics as we went.This lasted for about three walks and then the grief started,"This isn't much of a walk" etc,me taking pics as we walked.
I took a total huff (well a justified shut up and accept it attitude)and sold the camera.I really miss it but couldn't put up with the fact she couldn't accept me taking pics on a dog walk of all things??Anyone else get it in the neck for doing something so upsetting as taking pics on a walk?

I know what you mean. Constant moaning if you stop to take a photo. Complains if you ask her to hold a flash.

Can't you limit yourself to taking photos during the pause when your dog has a 'plop' and your partner puts the 'plop' in her handbag?
Everyone wins.
Or do you have to do the scooping?

Unfortunately 'plopping' and 'photo opportunities' don't always coincide!;)It's mostly wildlife i try to photograph so when it happens it happens.

I don’t bother taking the DSLR when out with the dog or family any more. They get well P’d off hanging around while I fanny about trying to compose a shot. Fair enough really. I now take the P&S and grab a pic if it’s really worth annoying them

We were out walking the dog a few weeks back when my loved one suggested I buy a 5D. Yes I'm a lucky bd Off to Scotland for a few days in a lighthouse Monday just to top it off.

I took the hound for a walk myself and used her stick to keep her focus and took pics of her that way. The other useful tip for taking pics around people is to use a fixed prime. I find it means less faff ing with zooming etc and you can use the camera more like a point and shoot.

If she doesn't like you taking pics with her, then go out by yourself.

It used to frustrate my missus, but I think she has just come to live with having me stop every 10 meters to take a picture of something. I tend to just get left behind these days...

I don't think the misses will be happy at me using her stick, it's the one she runs at me at when im laid on a grassy knowl photographing my third yellow breasted bunting of the walk!.Its a husky I've got that takes a lot of walking, so I think I'll just have to sod off on my own little seperate photographic missions with the bh (the dog!)

I get moaned at even if we go somewhere with the sole intention of me taking some pictures or suggesting a location and inviting people along, forever being rushed!!!!!!!!!!!!



I really enjoy it too and I love getting out with the dogs. My oldest Candy is getting really old so I want to try and get some nice images of her.

Hopefully she (or your daughter) will thank you for it one day. Many people don't realise that everyday scenes are what life is made of, and that's what's lost if not recorded. Anyone can remember a trip to Sydney Opera House.

My missus used to go berserk because I'd take my camera everywhere, even if I was 99% sure it wouldn't leave the bag. She would often dig at me if I took it to events and things as I had to lug it around and that irritated her in some way.

Then I decided not to take it to her graduation as her parents had a P&S and I didn't want to lug it around all day. Never has hypocrisy and fury combined so seamlessly.
