Which decent compact?

My trusty Olympus XZ1 appears to have gone for a walk from our table in a pub last night whilst I was on stage, with the o/h thus distracted.
On the basis that it's unlikely to walk home again, what would be the best similar option to replace it with? Not interested in interchangeable lenses as I've got a DSLR too, just want as good an image as possible from a compact.

This topic comes up quite often and the answer is always Sony RX100.
I've got one and it just simply knocks it out of the ballpark every time you press the shutter.
There is nothing better that will fit in a pocket in my opinion.

Currently £389.99, in case they bump it up just before to make out it's a better deal than it really is.
I've only read one review of the RX100 Mk 2 and it was an American and he didn't like it!
I like canons myself. Decamped to a Panasonic TZ30 a couple of years ago but the more I think bout it, the more I prefer the Canons - not that there is much wrong with the TZ30 and it was smaller than the Canon I had.

He was an idiot. 
Unless he didn't like the price, which I can understand.It has it's problems, but the size of image and detail is extraordinary.

Kinda' sums it up. I prefer using the Canon and it's miles cheaper, and smaller - but if it's image quality, Sony have (at present) got it nailed. Shed loads of cash mind - could buy a decent DSLR for the money. Horses & courses.

That's reet annoying... £100 less than I paid for mine. Hey ho. To be honest in the three months of RX ownership I now possess at least three really good pics that are going into frames on the wall. After 4 years of DSLR usage, I managed one. (Because I has a decent camera on me, not just an iphone!)
