Colour Film to B&W
Discussion
Bearing in mind that it it is about 16 years since I mucked around with B&W and chemicals, I used to find that it was possible but you always got a fairly grainy photo with not enough contrast.
Of course, this could have been down to the films available 16 years ago and things might have improved now.

Also what make film is best (and cheap) to use or does it not really matter. For B&W and Colour?
Thanks Si
Best and cheap? It doesn't work like that. Best costs more than cheap! I used Fuji Superia for colour prints and liked it, but some people (hi PB!) find it too saturated.

I didn't really mean cheap but being a student there is a balance between best film and how much able/willing to pay.
Okey doke. All I know is that Fuji (with decent processing) gave me much better results than the free films you get with d&p packages.
I got mine from www.mailshotsuk.co.uk/acatalog/index.html
If you spend a lot on film and processing, have you calculated a payback time if you went digital?
When used digital before didn't really like delay and I have a good SLR already which is really nice and would want a SLR digital which are expensive but will admit will be better when come down in price - One i've played with was quite few thousand and just amazing what could be done with it.
