Cokin X-Pro or Z-Pro Series

Does anyone have either of these?

I recently bought a Samyang 14mm as some of you know and I knew it couldn't fit standard filters. However, I really want an ND Grad at the very least for landscape but the Samyang's built in petal hood () makes things very difficult.

I did some Googling before I bought the lens and I read that there are a few systems you can use. One is ridiculously expensive (hundreds for the bracket alone) and is absolutely huge. The other is the Cokin X-Pro and/or Cokin Z-Pro as apparently the holder can be tightened around the petal hood and DOESN'T cause vignetting still as it's designed for UWAs.

I emailed Cokin but no reply yet. Any experience chaps?

The standard Cokin X pro wouldn't be able to fit to a lens hood as far as I can tell.

They have to fit to an adapter, in the same sort of way as Lee, also, if the 14mm is on full frame, you will probably get vignetting, I get it at 17mm.

A cheaper way might be to bracket exposures!

I hate bracketing; it just doesn't achieve the same results.

Ah ok, thanks. Perhaps it is the Z-Pro. There is a thread on the Canon forums where several people claim to be using the Samyang 14mm and some Cokin holder and filters, I just need to figure out which!

Oh good, because you directly contradicted the guy who said the X-Pro works!

You might consider using the Cokin X Pro system? It is restrictive as far as the number/types of filters available (just ND Grads and a couple of solid NDs) but the holder can be mounted using a "universal adapter" which will fit around the lens hood of the 14mm and attach via the small screws. The filters are 130x170mm so will not vignette. I have tried hand-holding a Lee SW filter in front but the results are not very acceptable due to reflections etc.
The Cokin X Pro kit can be found on Amazon UK too - not that expensive either and the filters are excellent quality too!
