B&W prints

Does any of you use a lab specifically for B&W prints? I've found the usual labs I use normally fails with B&W due to poor contrast and colour cast. If anyone knows someone who can print pure B&W, it would be great. Thanks in advance!

I’ve got three big B&W pics on my living room wall, printed by Photobox. Very happy with the outcome, although I wish I had chosen a heavier paper!

Thanks, Paul. I've tried Photobox. The prints were fine and acceptable but they just didn't have a real punch (black being pure black and white being pure white, if you see what I mean). I may just have to apply extra adjustment before I place an order.....

I've used these people for colour printing and found them excellent,
they do B&W too but I've not used them for that.

Always found Ilford's service to be pretty good and tend to use them if I don't want to process myself or want image CDs.

For the odd big print I've used Metro's (http://www.metroimaging.co.uk/) B&W hand printing service. Very happy with the results but I'd struggle to justify using them as a matter of routine (they're a pro lab and price accordingly).

Place I used to work in Walthamstow E17 called Forest Photographic on Hoe Street.

Been a while since I've worked there but when I did we specialised in true B&W processing from film onto b/w paper. Not sure of the digital process but defo worth giving them a shout, very knowledgeable people and deal with a lot of Pro and trade photographers. Been in business over 40 years now.

If it's digital large format printing your interested in then I now work for http://www.canvashut.com Specialise in canvases but also print large format prints up to A1. We know all about contrasty black and white prints without a colour cast.

I used to use Ilford for my B&W film processing but totally forgot about them since switching to digital.
