Just ordered a Tamron...

Sanity check please.

I ordered the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC lens for Nikon which I will use on my D7100 until I put together the cash for a D800.

DXOMark rates the lens very well and many reviews suggest (apart from some vignetting) that it is very close to the Nikon and Canon equivalents.

If it's any good I'll report back and may well buy their 70-200 f/2.8 VC.

Any current users here? Thoughts?

Let me know how you get on with it, I have had a good look at this lens and consider it to be a bargain, its fast, sharp wide open, offer VR which the Nikon doesn't. Seems to be the ultimate "budget" choice for a serious zoom, and its full frame competitors are the 24-105 f4 lenses - however the Sigma/Nikon is a full stop faster.

The Nikon has better weather sealing, doesn't "pump" on zoom which will improve longevity in dusty enviroments, and has less chromatic aberration. But unless you are shooting lots of braches against the sky this is rarely an issue and is easy to fix in post.
