Are all wedding photographers socially inept?

I was at a wedding on friday & the bloke doing the photos was so socially inept it's untrue, I'm normally ok at ignoring people like that but I was forced to tell him to 'F**k off' at one point because he was so annoying.
Then to make it worse the few pics of the event he's released on facebook are crap, over exposed, blown, badly framed etc etc etc. I'd been hoping he was behind the camera as he was incapable of interacting with people so excelled elsewhere, seems not.
If anyone wants a clue, he's got no imageination and was in north yorks.

Please don't judge us all on the basis of one idiot.
There always seem to be people out there that think having an slr camera is all they need to make a living from wedding photography. Do you know whether the happy couple met him before booking and looked at plenty of his work including at least a couple of full wedddings?
Not saying its the case this time, but there are so many horror stories in the press, usually where the couple have shown no diligence when booking and just gone for somebody cheap or a friend who's taken some nice landscape snaps.
Hopefully he's got some better stuff than he's posted on FB, but it's not sounding good...

What was he doing that was annoying? I've seen various levels of forcefulness (and lack of it) but was at a wedding a couple of years ago at a country house with sprawling grounds and the photographer was getting very frustrated trying to get people together for the traditional shots.We aren't all like that! 
however I have been at weddings and encountered some really awful (And rude) photographers.. and videographers. To photograph a wedding you need to be good at interacting with people, if you are bad at getting people to like you you aren't going to make a good wedding photographer no matter how good your photos are.

I have on numerous occasions met couples socially who have said they wished they had known me before they got married as their Photographer was rude or deficient in some other way and it seems to be happening more that photographers fall short, I guess because of lack of experience and the weekend warriors etc. We are not all like that though, I promise. I describe my marshalling style as a cross between a clown and a segeant major and I can't deny biting my lip on occasion.

I wasn't, don't worry. I post in this bit regularly & it's the fact I've got zero skill with a camera yet I could pick fault with almost every shot of his I've seen that caused my lack of respect for his 'skills'. As a few examples, every pic of the bridge & groom signing the registrar has a massively over exposed look with a totally blown background. Then pictures of the dancing later include one where the bride is midframe but has someone else's arm across her face - knowing how quick his camera was firing, he's just got no idea about how to pick the good pics from all the ones taken.The bloke was just annoying. He had a 'photobooth' with lots of silly hats etc for people to look stupid with, my missus joined in with that but it's not my thing so I didn't. Mr t
t spent what felt like five mins trying to force me to join in & the only way to get rid of him was a rather firm 'FO' right to the face.TBH I started this as bit of a lighthearted thread to see how many people hide behind cameras to avoid having to be social, I know I'd see it as an advantage. Oh & I think the couple chose him because he was 'quirky'.

Some are though. I try to make the point with every couple I meet that it's incredibly important that they like the person behind the camera as they will be spending a lot of time with them throughout the day. You don't want your big day spoiled by being followed around by someone who you find annoying!

Are these the Raw pictures or the ones that the couple has selected for their albums? a wedding photographer will take hundreds of photos and probably spend a good amount of time in photshop making sure there are no stray hairs, visible tattoos etc.
I suspect from the timescale of wedding to posting that they are raw ones. I'd have expected pictures that looked better than the ones myself & Mrs Hooli snapped with compacts though, even if they aren't fully tweaked.I shoot weddings in JPEG.
Generally at weddings, the most annoying guests are the ones who think they're photographers. Not saying this is the case in this instance and by the sounds of it the photog was a social retard (which does happen unfortunately and increasingly so), but if there's one thing worse than someone telling you how to do your job, it's them telling you when they're drunk and surrounded by friends in a situation where you know you can't punch them in the face and get away with it.

I can believe that. I work in IT & the worst people to fix PCs for are those that think they can fix them. I never said a word to them about the pics at the time, or what they where doing. I figured the couple chose them so they'd have chosen what they wanted, I'm just not impressed with the results I've seen so far.Generally at weddings, the most annoying guests are the ones who think they're photographers.
I can't see any of their wedding on the site yet, but the pics I've seen I think are 'as shot' maybe with processing they'll look better. We'll see. Won't be for a bit though as the couple are now in Iceland for two weeks.
