Hey everyone. Well I made it to the Gumball Get Together in Manchester, but unfortunately I made just as soon as everyone was leaving. However I was able to get some good photos in the end, so if you guys want to have a look at them and give your own opinions, then feel free! 
Will, you asked for opinions - those photos are not GOOD...But since criticism is only good when it's constructive:
- it's the same thing again like in your Facebook portfolio, too much distracting crap, you really have to learn to crop differently or clone things out: no1 light in the top left corner and the green blob below it, no2 both lights above the roof and red letters on the right, no3 wonky horizon and TBH I'd just remove the whole lamp post and make it a panorama or even better delete the whole photo altogether because there is absolutely nothing interesting in it, no4 tree on the left, no5 red and blue letters + wonky horizon
- exposure is wrong in all of them, the highlights are completely overblown
- they are all very very soft, make sure you resize first then sharpen every photo and never host it on thumbsnap, open a flickr account and host all photos there. If you upload to facebook make sure that the longer edge is 2048 or 960px, not more not less
- you have to learn to either move around more/ ask people to move out or be very patient at gatherings like that. Most of the time people will ruin your photos like no1 and 2
- as I said before, get a fast lens. I recommend new 35mm Sigma f/1.4, it's absolutely amazing. Automotive photography is not just about having a whole car in every frame. You can take amazing photos of details of the car and at f/2 you won't have to worry about people and crap behind it.
- very important thing - be very critical towards yourself and do not show people any photos that you don't absolutely love! Portfolio with 50 photos, out of which 20 will be exceptional and the rest will be mediocre will be just all right. Portfolio of 15 photos, all of them being amazing will make people remember you as a great photographer and the only difference is, you didn't show them the "allright" ones.
