Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 - Canon

I've been offered the above lens and there appear to be two tiny scratches on the front lens which the owner says are un-noticable on the pictures. I cannot see any obvious effect on the pictures, but what is/are the best camera settings to test whether this is true or not. If it makes any difference I have a 5D-I. Thanks

Wide end 28mm at f22 with the sun off to an angle to introduce flare.

Its probably fine, you can always black them out with something which can help.
