Hi Gary,

I like it. I know very little about portraits and studio lighting, but i reckon:

The style of the photo fits the model.

I like the composition.
I think you have managed to capture the movement well, but more than that: You have captured the grace of the movement as well which is just as important.
nice lighting.

Nice one. Cheers

Matt

That's really good!

Any chance of a talk/walk through of what you did and how?

Cheers,
Phil.

used a black background I put a softbox on a boom above her head and to the right of her... at about 3/4 power, then a light bank adjusted to 5600k ( near daylight ) to her left, using barndoors, directed the light at her midrift and legs, used a shutter speed of around 1/4 sec, knowing the flash would freeze her face and upper body. and started shooting... and shooting and shooting using an aperture of f10....

A work of art, hard to fault that one. Excellent.

But why did you worry about WB if you were after a monochrome result? Or was it planned to be colour?

I always set WB where ever I am, it only takes a second, I like to get as much right in camera as I can...force of habit I guess.

I do use software to tweak things after when I have to... but I'm very aware any adjustments degrade the image ....so as much as I can... I do as I shoot.

First impression was "wonderfull"!
I want to say that a shade lighter or a touch of sepia would add some warmth as i feel it would benefit from it but i really am not sure.
In short it is a brilliant picture mate.
