I got a Nikon SB-800 to go with the D70 my partner bought me as an early birthday present a month ago. Just need to RTFM so I can use it to it's best. God, I am a lucky spoilt B4stard

I'm in line for an SB800 too - from what I see on forums, the instructions for it are marginally more complex than the Concorde owner's manual... will be interested to see how you get on.

Well, took a few pics with and without the 800,and the difference is vast. The ability to bounce the flash from all angles makes a world of difference to the overall pictures. Colours are crisper and rear shadows a thing of the past. If you can get your hands on one, I would say go for it. If you can get your better half to buy it so much the better. The manual is a bit in depth but just press on with the exreiments. afterall, it cost nothing to take pics with a D70 or in fact any Digi!

Pug406, what did you decide on for batteries? Did you go for 4xNiMH, and if so what capacity? Have you tried the 5th battery option useful or is recycling time OK with 4?

(I need to be an expert by April!)

I have used NiMH, cant remember what the capacity is, I will look Tuesday when I get home. Not tried the 5th battery option as I could not get the battery cover off. I will try again Tuesday.

Just had a look, the NiMH are 2000mAH ones. The flash is ready almost instantly with just the 4 batteries. HTH
