Lustre or Gloss

Lustre is basically a matt finish, but not quite as flat, has a bit more 'sparkle'(for want of a better word). Glossy is, as the name says, glossy, or shiny.
One is not really better than the other, a lot of it is just what you prefer, although certain pictures may suit Lustre e.g wedding pictures, and others Gloss e.g commercial photography, high impact stuff. Glossy also shows up fingerprints a lot more than Lustre.

It depends what you want to do with the picture, and what the picture is of.
For example, I've found that certain photos look better on gloss - like the Ferrari shot below:
And some look better on matte like this one:
Also, if you're going to frame a print, the matte finishes can look better as you get less glare behind the glass.
Lustre/Satin (textured dull gloss if you know what I mean
) is a nice compromise, but it's well worth trying out a few different types of paper to see what you like best.
