Polaroid cameras anyone?

In my ever growing collection of 80s//90s electronic gadgety things (mostly old Sony stuff) I have gathered quite a few Polaroid cameras. Up until today I haven't used one due to the lack of film. But today I picked one up that had four shots left.

Sadly I think the film must have been in the camera for the last 10 years

There seems to be two ways of getting some film, proper Polaroid films that are sealed but "out of date" or from The Impossible Project.

Anyone on here ever use Polaroid? Are the out of dates ok or am I better off getting the Imposdible ones?

They're both as bad as each other. There is nothing like 'proper' Polaroid film available nowadays.

The modern stuff is nowhere near as vibrant as it ought to be, but the 'fadedness' of it does work in some circumstances. Think 1970s holiday snaps.

I don't know whether the cartridges will fit Polaroid cameras (I seem to recall that some Polaroid film carts also contain electric cells in order to run the film transport mechanism), but Fuji make excellent instant films such as FP100C (available from Calumet). I still use it occasionally if I want to make exposure proofs, prior to shooting film.

Have a couple of Polaroids, just basic stuff and have run them on Impossible Project film. Whichever way you go with film, there's fun to be had, as long as the expectation is that it's going to look crap when scanned and you're probably going to get all kinds of funky colours and leaks all over the photos.

The price of the film is crippling if you plan on using them for anything/everything, instax is a better option
