The Mrs informed me a little while ago she was going to buy a camera from Sainsburys at lunch time ready for use tomorrow. I hate spending money on crap, so thought I would seek the knowledge of PH. Now here are the rules:

1) Needs to be quick at focusing (major bugbear she has with my old Cannon IXOS)

2) Needs to be purchased from Argos/ Sainsburys/ Tesco or Currys as that's all we have near us.

3) Max price around £100 although cheaper is better

I had got all excited by the thought of the Fujifilm XF1 at Currys until I realised it's online or pickup in 1 working day only. No idea if my local store has one in stock but I can't find out on their website and there is no branch phone number frown

Which-ever has the best returns policy.

Then order the XF1 with next day delivery.

Anyone used the Canon IXUS 140?

Final verdict:

Although the Canon IXUS 140 is a perfectly adequate camera in most situations, the same can said of many high-end smartphone cameras.

If you're going to allocate precious pocket or bag space for a dedicated camera, then it must take much cleaner shots after dark, even at this price point.

Unfortunately for the Canon IXUS 140, other similarly-specced cameras - including its own sibling the Canon IXUS 125 HS - just work better in a greater range of scenarios.
It has an RRP of £159. The XF1 was £399 at launch. If that doesn't convince her to wait less than 24 hours I don't know what will.

Yeah, but she needs a camera for Saturday.
