Has anyone got any experience of using stick on wind muffs/wind-cutters on handycams or DSLR's for video?

or any tips on how to deal with it, My DSLR is fine but the Handycam has no external mic attachement so I've got to work with what I've got.

I use a cotton wool ball and some electrical tape on my JVC action cam, which works quite well
