Hi all,

I have a Canon EOS 550D, with a Canon BG-E8 Battery Grip.

Have had this for a few years now, and make good use of the grip.

Over time, the rubber that is stuck onto the grip has worn loose, and the adhesive has worn out. It is coming away from the body of the Grip.

Is it possible to get a replacement rubber piece for the grip from anywhere?

Have tried searching for it, but cannot find any good results.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had a similar issue with the rubber piece on one of my cameras and found an eBay seller that did all the parts - just peel off backing and stick on.

If the rubber itself is still ok, would evostick or shoo goo should hold it.

I have tried to search eBay, but cannot find the correct product. Just lots of listing for the actual grips, not just the rubber part.

The rubber itself has now deformed and stretched a fair bit. If I try to re-glue it, I end up with some creases. It does need replacing.

If you can't find what you are looking for then you might consider using me Sugru to fix it. It is a popular hack but you may want to experiment on something else first to get a feel for how it works.

You could try H Lehmann (www.hlehmann.co.uk). They offer a Canon spare parts service, so ought to be able to get you the part if Canon still make it.
