I love apple but this is a step too far.

iPhoto and aperture are being disbanded for the new unified photos app. I hope the keep all the editing functions of aperture somewhere in it. I don't want to subscribe to Lightroom.

Do you mean that literally - I'm not aware of any plans to make LR subscription only?

Is Lightroom still available to buy as a standalone app?

Regardless, the benefit if aperture is the integration within the mac and iOS environment. And I like it. I'm used to it.

Regardless. I hope they don't reduce functionality

Yep. And long may that continue, £8 a month isn't pricey but I paid £65 for LR5 a year ago so that's £31 I've saved over the CC route already, and I've no plans to upgrade any time soon - I'm happy with what I use.

But whilst I can't say I feel your pain (I could never quite get on with the Apple ecosystem) I do sympathise.

OT doesn't make them money and not a cloud app. Apple are a hardware company and can't keep up with adobe. Well I guess don't want to.

At least that's one argument sorted...
