Could anyone tell me what coding is all about with batteries? I'm planning to order a spare battery for my D7100, probably not a genuine battery, and I see some that are decoded and others coded.
It may be related to the battery 'smart meter'. The camera has to 'see' the battery and of course Nikon and no doubt others have tried to discourage generics. Ask the seller/s if it will work with a 7100.
