Hi I need a new Camera!
I am not a photographer, but just want a half decent camera for taking some pics on holiday at shows etc. I would also like to be able to take decent up close photos of my snakes!!!
I have been recommended a Sony Cyber-shot DSC HX50 on offer at John Lewis for £199 WITH 8gb CARD (+£20 for 3 year damage warranty)
I quite like the look of a Fujifilm XF1 for £129 from Currys.
What would people recommend from the above, or any other suggestions would be gratefully received!

Go to a proper camera shop and try a few. Take advice from the staff and you'll be fine. (But don't just take their advice and buy online).
There are many cameras to choose from, and even the most basic compact will produce perfectly decent pictures.
Most, if not all, will offer a close-up facility.
