As title really, I'm struggling with converting XMP to IPTC and have a few questions but google hasn't been very helpful....
Anybody here know anything about the IPTC standard?

What software are you planning on using? I do all my meta data stuff in Lightroom and it is pretty simple.

Craikey,

Posted last night as I was pulling my hair out.

I have used file explorer in windows to tag my photos with keywords and titles for a long time and have quite a lot of photos. I needed to convert my (XMP?) keywords and titles into IPTC and was really struggling. I downloaded a bit of software XnViewMP but that didn't work. The older XnView was restricting keywords to 64 characters as I was losing a lot of data.

I downloaded Adobe bridge today which seemed to be free, not sure if its a trial or not but if I do a batch rename on all my photos when they save it seems the IPTC data has auto populated which has saved me no end of work!

I'm not sure if Bridge is free or not, it seems to come bundled with all of their CS suite. It is pretty much the metadata engine behind Lightroom, so it a good piece of software.

Arghh, I thought it was working earlier, but now it seems to be chopping the end of IPTC tags, just like XnView does.

Your issue could be the clipping is because of limitations in the standard and not the software. Can you manually enter the clipped tags in the new format without clipping?
