Sony HX400V bridge camera any good??

I need a compact ish, £300 ish camera with a manual zoom and auto focus as a good all rounder - taking pics of the kids growing up, family holidays - landscapes and cars - both static and moving on the track are all important to me. The Sony seems to be the best of the bunch. Any one use one?? Any better options?? Don't want a DSLR as I cant afford a good one and not sure I need the extra bulk of interchangeable lenses. Would consider a high end compact but don't want electric zoom. Thank you.....
