How did I do that?

I took some pictures of a sunset over a bridge near where I live and while I like the effect some of the images have taken, I'm lost as to how it has happened. The EXIFO information doesn't help matters either

no, a series of shots came out like that, but I didn't change the settings on the camera (bar fiddling with the shutter time)

Wonder if a colour is missing? How does it compare if you take the normal picture then remove each of RGB one at a time? Just wondering if you have a CCD problem. Try some controlled tests ad see if you can make it happen again.

Doh! I changed it to manual on Tuesday for the gig.

How does it do that then - work on some images but not on others and similary, how does White Balance change the picture to green?

Don't know.
But PS AutoLevels is very good at correcting white balance errors - so if you have PS and try that, and it doesn't look better, I reckon it's something else.

Looks like you have solved it. I was going to ask if you had taken the shots through a window. I have had this happen when taking through a window before.

I know that taking through windows is a no-no but this was in a cable car and I didn't fancy getting out!

It was more likely perspex I think.
Did actually work for a good filter effect for the clear sky over mont blanc though.

White balance shouldn't turn anything green. That would have to be to correct a magenta light source, and I don't think such a thing exists, at least not with enough frequency to have a white balance setting for it. But maybe the auto setting doesn't work like that?

My thoughts exactly. The D70 has a fluorescent setting - but the sample pic looks far too green to be healthy.

But the fluorescent setting corrects a green light source, by making the picture more magenta, the opposite to what has happened here. Very odd

you all have me worried now I figured it was something simple settings wise, not an actual problem.

Compare this info with the good shot and the green shot. What is different, if anything?

I've updated the previous post doing the obvious thing (seeing the blindly obvious isn't a strong point with me ) and comparing the two

There appear to be 2 x White Balance and 2 x Exposure Mode for each shot???
