How does it do that then - work on some images but not on others and similary, how does White Balance change the picture to green?

White balance shouldn't turn anything green. That would have to be to correct a magenta light source, and I don't think such a thing exists, at least not with enough frequency to have a white balance setting for it.
My thoughts exactly. The D70 has a fluorescent setting - but the sample pic looks far too green to be healthy.

I figured it was something simple settings wise, not an actual problem.
