Is this the best deal i could go for?
Currently out of stock, so if anyone knows a similar price elsewhere i'd be very interested.

Ebuyer has them for £69.47, and they've got 43 in stock according to their website.

Not sure whether the x80 one is going to make much difference to write speeds compared to x40 though, but I'd personally go for the faster one - after all, speed matters!

These guys in Poole have been good. They seem to deal in quality gear and offer a good service. Their prices are also better than most.
www.robertwhite.co.uk (I would go for the 80x rather than 40x as your memory card is a essential element to your camera).

I've gone a different route because I've had a CF failure. Instead of getting a 1G card I've got 4 256 MBs.

I've been reading up on CF cards today, and there are quite a few reports of Lexar cards losing images in Canon DSLRs, while Sandisk seems to have no issues. They are also rated to below freezing, while the Lexar cards aren't.

It's also a good idea as Martin suggested to not have all your eggs in one basket.

I was only reading about Canon - could well be the same issue with Nikon too. Certainly the only complaints were with Lexar cards.

Ordered an 80x 1gig last night...

I've got 2x1Gb Sandisk Extreme, and 1x512Mb Sandisk Ultra II, and a Lexar 40x 1Gb card.

All work just fine. The Lexar one seems to be too big however, as its a nightmare to get in and out of the camera.

I use 2 Sandisk Ultra II 2GB cards with an old 1Gb Microdrive for emergencies.

I must say that in the 20D the speed of these Sandisk cards is stunning!!!

Have a look at the CF database here www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007 as speed can vary greatly between camera models and cards.
