A favour ....

I've put 100 of my Highland/Lake District pics into a screen saver and bunged it on my website as a free download as long as people promise to chuck some money into the tsunami appeal... could you pass the link on to anyone you think may be interested. Ta

...and happy new year folks

What a wonderful thing to do.

Download and donation taken care of, thanks Steve. Email to a few friends will be sent shortly.

Donated and downloaded. I lost a lot of the digital phoros I took in the Lakes and Highlands after a laptop theft and data recovery disaster, thanks very much for this.

Excellent idea

I've donated and downloaded, but being on a Mac, it's opened an .exe file which afaik isn't compatible.

Is there an easy way round this?

Hmmm... sorry Andy... don't think so. One of these days I'll knock up a mac version (I work on both formats, but all the pics are on PC). I'll also make it extra clear on the page that the saver isn't mac compatible.

I'm disgusted!

I'd offer to make a Mac version of the screensaver, but I think OS X does it itself (create a picture folder and then point the screensaver preference to it).

Greg

I'm west coast... (www.torridon.org) - but Scotland is pretty 'narrow' up there so only about 2 hours drive to inverness and drop down - in a decent car.

(Although I'm in Cumbria whilst my house up there is being built).

Steve,
I didn't avail myself of your photos (I've got too many of my own) but your offer gave me a gentle nudge in the right direction, so 100 of my best Euros have found themselves a new home. Good on you, mate, I hope you prick a lot more consciences!

Martin.

Fantastic idea Steve.

If anyone wants a quick and easy way of having an additional 50p donated and to get info on saving money at the same time, take a look at www.moneysavingexpert.com and sign up to the email list.

50p PLEDGE EXTENDED UNTIL SAT, £2,500 DONATED SO FAR. After emptying the site's charity fund last week, I calculated i could donate 50p* for every new UK receiver of this e-mail by midnight on Tue. Huge thanks to all who told others, it means 5,000 joined (about 2,500 more than usual). As more cash is needed it's extended to this Thur, Fri and Sat. Please tell everyone (office noticeboards? email friends?) they can add themselves at www.moneysavingexpert.com/tips. My hope is it gives people a further way to be involved and is win-win-win for the Appeal, the site, and new MoneySavers (it's based on the hungersite model).
