New D7100 from Santa!!!

I have the go ahead from the Long Haired General to treat myself to a new Camera. I have decided on the D7100 and want to buy from a proper Nikon retailer because Nikon UK are offering a free Battery Grip as a promotion. I'm only after a Body as I have some decent glass already. These seem to be retailing at about £770. Any suggestions?

I'm happy to wait until after Christmas if there is a saving to be had!!!

London Camera Exchange has them at £779 incl some accessories and qualifying for the grip offer.

I've always had great service from my local branch (Portsmouth) and the couple of other branches I've visited have been staffed by friendly & knowledgable folk too. Presently running a "12 days of Christmas" email promo with different offers each day. If nothing comes up for the D7100 they're quite often open to a little negotiation...

I got my D7100, like most of my camera gear, in HK for about £450. It was almost a casual purchase.

A husband of a friend works at LCE in Fareham. He is seeing what deal he can offer me taking a couple of D200's in PX. Should know tomorrow.

The D7100 dropped in price on Amazon by about £50 last night. The body was at £720 and the body with 18-105 was at £854 iirc. I dithered and it went back up to the usual £768 and £899.

Picked my new D7100 body up from LCE in Fareham today. Did me a good PX on two D200 bodies with Battery grips. Included a couple of 16gb cards and an extra battery. All in at £637.00. That still leaves me with a good D200+grip as a spare body to go along side my two lenses. And Nikon are offering a free Grip to go with the D7100. One happy chappy!!!!

Always been impressed with LCE Fareham staff always helpful and even without asking when I go to pay they often throw me some discount.

SOOOoooo much nicer to use with the Battery Grip fitted. It felt like a toy camera without it!!!

Not used in anger yet. Hopefully get a chance to give it a proper workout this weekend.
