Some of those are fantastic but some... not so much. Unless resizing has mullered the IQ of the two gay guys, that's such a poor quality shot.

Some nice photos for sure, but give most half-decent photographers some of those locations, some time to set up those shots, and then a lot of post-prod and they'd churn them out all day long.http://www.boredpanda.com/wedding-photo-awards-201...
I'll get shot down in flames but there are only three or four photos there that I would regard as exceptional, and one or two that I regard as average at best.

Should wedding photographs be judge on the basis of art?I'll get shot down in flames but there are only three or four photos there that I would regard as exceptional, and one or two that I regard as average at best.
It depends how you view the function of wedding photography I suppose.
I think that if you put yourself into the place of the participants then most of these would these trigger an emotional response to the day, not just the image. The one by the graveside is poignant - a bit over the top for me - but for the participants, it might be the one which validates the day. A friend of mine got married just a couple of weeks after the death of her mother who asked her not to cancel the big day. It brought that back to me from 1968/9 so a trigger.
I produced a video of my daughter's best friend's wedding, the brief being to record everyone who came. They, and the bride's mother, loved it. The only time the principals were shown was in the background and blurred. They said they played it more than the 'official' one. So things like the kids playing about has a point.
I'm not too sure about the woman who married the dog though.

Can't agree more. There's one in there I would say was appalling simply based on the quality of the image alone. The one with the mountains has a wonky horizon I'll get shot down in flames but there are only three or four photos there that I would regard as exceptional, and one or two that I regard as average at best.
A few very nice ones in there though but the rest are just the average wedding pic.

I suppose that's what happens when you ask for images to be submitted so that you can write features now and again to make sure a certain section of your readership keeps coming back.A few very nice ones in there though but the rest are just the average wedding pic.

Meanwhile in the comments the photographers are promoting their businesses and at least one other who has previously been in a Huffington article (they claim) is annoyed because they were not included in this one.
Make of it what you will, I wonder how much it costs to get into the spread?

Yep, I'm sure this is more a case of "Best image submitted by the photographers willing to pay enough to be featured in this article 2014" Meanwhile in the comments the photographers are promoting their businesses and at least one other who has previously been in a Huffington article (they claim) is annoyed because they were not included in this one.
