Hi

I've had an ultrawide lens for a while now and technically know what I'm doing with it wiith regard to dynamic range, grads, getting close to the foreground, leading lines.

I'm not getting great shots though, my mind just doesn't think in wide angle. Has anyone been in a similar boat and have some tips for improving shot spotting?

The best thing is to get some inspiration from looking at other top photographer's work.

I wish I could offer some advice but I struggle with wide-angles too, not from a point of view but from a compositional one. I know what makes a good wide-angle shot, but I struggle to spot it in the real world.

Will be watching with interest to see what tips people have!

Go look at Marc Adamus and Ryan Dyar etc see how they compose for UWA. Yes their stuff is epic and you wont match it but at the roots its all about composition.

Get close, and when you think you can't get closer, get closer.

I just bought myself a wide angle lens, a 12-24mm and tried it out for the first time on a Dam wall that I always wanted to capture in one photo.

I can take or leave Ryan Dyar's stuff - it all looks a bit soft and unreal for my taste, but I've just had a look through Marc Adamus 500px feed and his shots are something else. He seems to get very low in a lot of his shots and use natural framing devices - something I'll have to try emulate myself, as I sometimes struggle with WA composition.
