Hi all,

I was wondering if you could give me a little bit of advice, I have made this (not quite finished yet):

Having spoken to a bunch of people (I am inclined to agree with them), they reckon that the best bet for a stable picture is to make a solid mast structure. The one pictured bends from half way up.

I have now made a solid mast the same length, and it also works well. The problem is that I envisage that once upside down, the strength of the 40mm pvc pipe makes the gopro the weak link. I am going to tie all pieces together and have a separate gopro lanyard, but is there any way of making the mast sacrificial? i.e. how do I put a weak spot in the 40mm pipe without losing rigidity?

Also, does anyone have any ideas for improving the design?

I should add, I am 100% happy with the solidity of the base which is absolutely stunning in design. I am more bothered about making it strong enough to get good footage but weak enough to snap under stress.
