What camera ?

Can anyone recommend me a new camera. I have an old EOS at the moment that I bought when digital cameras weren't fast enought to catch the kids in frame. I'm after something smaller to carry around with a view finder and preferable interchangeable lenses. Budget is about £ 500 ish. I'm not a camera geek so the online shops are just confusing me.
