I need to pixelate six faces in a group of twenty - anyone suggest a quick method using LR or PS?

Thanks in advance.

Photoshop method. Follow step 1 and 2 of this tutorial.

This will pixelate the whole image though. The simple way would be to use the marque tool to isolate the area you wish to edit. The marque tool location and details are here:

So in short. Duplicate your layer in PS. This is not essential if you are unsure how.
Use the Marque tool to draw a square over the face to wish to distort.
Follow the tutorial showing you the location of the Mosaic distort filter.

^^^^ ...or do it on a layer in PS?

But what are you? Man or Mouse? Take the Stalin approach and just airbrush them out completely .... hehe

I'm trying to explain it in as simple terms as I can. The brain needs breakfast so I'm struggling at this early hour in the morning lol

...and caffeine!!!

No I just meant, do it that way, but can you do it on a layer and then just use masks and paint in/out the areas the OP wants to pixelate?

(Still doesn't answer the intriguing question of why these people need to stay anonymous) scratchchin Are they HSBC customers?

I tried using the inverse radial filter in LR, but can only blur using that method. Is there an equivalent of the LR radial filter in PS that can be used to pixelate?

Aren't some of these 'blurring' methods reversible?

Not really, some information is lost with blurring (gaussian, box filter, etc).

Heh, never seen it! No, It's just come back to me, what I was thinking of was a case some time ago where someone of criminal intent had used the 'twirl' function to hide his face in an image and the police had simply untwirled it.

On a similar note, and going a bit O/T, ISTR an incident when someone had released a PDF file with redacted information in it - except the redaction was on a separate layer and all the classified stuff was easily visible.

Thanks, all sorted now. Easy when you know how!

That's quite funny. The twirl filter is a type of image rotation.

Heh, yes, that's the one I was thinking about. If only Interpol had kept quiet about the trick; they might have caught a few more.
